My own personal beliefs are basicaly as follows i am a christian, and i believe that the bible is completly true. i believe in literal 6 day creation, and nothing about evolution. i dont consider any extra "denominational" books to be real parts of the bible. i dont like "religion". i despise being called a protestant, although, i guess my beliefs are more like a protestants than others. i hate man-made rules and traditions. i believe i am a terrible person and that i deserve hell. (i think that the whole republican/democrat thing is bunk! just like a man and wife, they fight during the day and sleep in the same bed at night, and do their best to keep intruders out of their house)

I am a Christian, and I believe the Bible to be the inerrant Word of God. I believe in a literal six day creation. I believe in the Holy Trinity and that Jesus was both fully divine and fully human. I believe all of the points which can be found within the Apostle's Creed. I am a Protestant Christian. I believe that their are many man-made religions that are needed in order to prevent chaos. I don't mind tradition and usually enjoy it. I acknowledge human depravity and that I deserve to go to hell were it not for the saving blood of Jesus Christ. I would not consider myself to be lukewarm in my walk with Christ, because I have been walking energetically with Him. As far as politics is concerned, I am extremely conservative, and therefore a part of the Republican party.

I am either a Christian diest or theist; I haven't decided yet, but I DO NOT read the Bible literally. I don't see how anyone who is well educated really can. MAybe I am missing something, but science tells usa too much about the world to go on believing dogmatically that it is so young- 6000 years old. No: what about dinosaurs, carbon dating, uranium dating (which can prove that there exists rocks that are millions of years old), etc? I won't put anyone down for not believing exactly what I believe unless I think they are failing to see reason.

That's how I started off when I came to this board! Since then, I have become utterly convinced of strict agnosticism; even atheism at times (not quite sure which yet). I can't logically accept Christianity in any form. I feel so very free and happy as a result of this; my intellectual conflicts with its contradictions and logical impossibilities are now fully validated and I'm happy. There's my testimony. I've gotten so much from the debate on these forums. It has really helped me solidify my beliefs and lose the fear instilled in me by Christianity. Peace and intellectual freedom - aaaaaah, yeah.

That's interesting, I've experienced quite the opposite.
I'll just echo what Areopagite said.
Good stuff.

My general philosophy is that we are all agents of this universe which has recently started to come to know itself though life. I see it therefore as our duty to do our very best to understand exactly what the universe is for we are its eyes and ears. It is a direct analogy to the consciousness that transforms a baby into a person. Furthermore I think we owe it to the universe not to deceive ourselves in this quest - for we can do the universe no greater disservice than to ignore what it is trying to tell us.
