Bush is definitely going to win. But I think it's going to be close. We'll be lucky to know by christmas, I think.

I really, really hope Kerry wins.. for the sake of the entire world. We cannot deal with Bush for four more years. I really find it amazing that so many people even think of supporting Bush as a logical, intelligent decision to make. People amaze me.
Consider the repurcussions of a Bush win:
3 new supreme court judges elected by the failed oil entrepenuer himself. Can you say Ultra-Conservative Religious right advocates? I can, and I'm sure Bush is able as well.
Goodbye Abortion and women's rights. Goodbye Separation of church and state and atheist/agnostic's rights. Goodbye Civil Liberties and Human rights.
Hello Creationism taught in public schools. Black market Abortion epidemic. and on and on and on...

Good, at least Kerry had more decency than Gore and conceded when it was obvious he couldn't win. An honourable man, at least, if not one whose political views line up with mine.. Originally posted by joelhaldemanRiiiight, a bad economy. Which is why the Wall street stock market jumped when they heard that Bush won, whereas it was dropping while news said that Kerry was in the lead. And yes, I'm sure the repercussions of having a strong, free-market economy will be just horrible for all of us who will get good jobs in booming American businesses. Sigh. The world just isn't what it used to be, when you could have a good liberal president like Clinton ride the economy into the dumpster by mis-managing it. Those were the good old days... Originally posted by JohnnyJihadFaceAbortion being gone? Good. Women's rights? I'm not sure what you mean, but I think there will still be women's suffrage. Goodbye civil liberties and human rights? Maybe. But I sincerely doubt it. Creationsim taught in schools alongside with evolutionism? That would be most excellent. Black market Abortion epidemic? I doubt it. And if it did happen, why are we to presume this would be bad? If you support abortions, why are you concerned about there being a black market in them? As for drafts, I find it unlikely. Bush's stated position was that he wasn't going to institute it. Of course, he doesn't have to feel obliged to please the public at all any more, being a second term president.

Yeah, Hurrah for the economically necessary American war every 17 years (sarcasm). Creationsim taught in schools alongside with evolutionism? That would be most excellent. And while we're at it, let's also bring in Navajo Indian creation stories and the Aboriginal deamtime beliefs. Creatonism, by definition, is not a science because it involves foregone conclusions about what the data must show (intelligent design). Real science looks at the data and then decides what it means. Creationism involves "fishing" for specific data in support of a particular hypothesis. Children do not deserve to be deceived by Creationism masquerading as "science". Black market Abortion epidemic? I doubt it. And if it did happen, why are we to presume this would be bad? If you support abortions, why are you concerned about there being a black market in them? Well, I don't know if you know what it feels like to have a coathanger shoved up your vagina, but I assume that it would be "bad". An excellent reason to support legal abortion is purely to avoid these social atrocities which would certainly be the result of criminalising it. This also clearly supports the points made earlier about civil and women's rights. Christians have no reason whatsoever to impose their personal moral preferences on the rest of the public through law. Of course, he [Bush] doesn't have to feel obliged to please the public at all any more, being a second term president. In a democratic country, I would think that this would be his most important responsibility.
