kids kids kids, lets all calm ourselves.
Scot you're a psuedo-intellectual, cause we all know you're not a full bred intellectual.
And Gilson you're CUS cause it's just god damned funny.
and this whole, "new religion thing" just remember, you're obliged to tell everyone else their wrong, and persecute them for thousands of years.

You heard right, Kid-o's, NEVER EVER think outside the box. Someone disagrees with you on something? Slice his head off! No time for "Listening". Did you know that listening was invented by the communists? Or, if you happen to be of that particular political background, it was the damned CAPITALISTS! Either way, it was someone else's fault other than your own, so SOMEONE's gotta pay, and it sure as hell isn't going to be YOUR friends or family. Someone else's religion have you pissed off because of something you don't agree with? Well, screw THAT religion. Hell, while we're at it, why don't we screw ALL religions, and mock people who actually have faith and trust in their own. This works the same way for religious people. After all, you wouldn't want any of those filthy non-believers/homosexuals/basically anyone who's different from you to be able to feel secure in their position. That just makes you look bad, and if YOU look bad, than your whole system of beliefs looks bad.
Neither group wants to consider themselves flawed or in the wrong at any time, because, you know, there is that little "ego" word involved. Who wants to look stupid? Unless you're Hugh Grant (Who built a career out of looking "charmingly" befuddled), no one. So basically, all that's going to happen is that all sides end up ranting about their own position without even stopping to think about what the other person is saying. Pride is a dangerous, free-thought smothering emotion that is really hard to deal with, and I definately see it as one of the main reasons everyone's always so heated about all of their discussions here. The point shouldn't be to insult and prove yourself right, the point should be to learn from other people who have had different experiences from your own. I personally refuse to post anything which I or anyone else could find directly offensive. If you feel the need to take out your agressions on other people here, than you're really not here for the right reasons. No one should have to have their personal beliefs mocked, no matter how outrageous they may seem to you yourself.

Although I can Vouch for your complete, and absolute correctness, I find myself being at the ass end of your point. I most definitely mock other people's beliefs. This plays into something I will create a thread for at another time. Great post Erik.

if anyone really wanted to learn anything on this page, it would be to learn how to swear 20 times in one sentence from john...and its hard to "learn" beliefs, because they are just that, belief, you do or you don't, and john calling you names isn't going to convert you into an atheist, and you reciting bible verses isn't going to make john like christians. personally i find more satifaction in self-manipulation than arguing with a bunch of stubborn bastards (i said that with a smile). Gilson is like karl marx in that his ideas work in text, but not in real life. It would be nice if everyone could just tell eachother what they think and no one would go "whoa your a dumbass" but thats the harsh reality of things, people suck. cool world god made huh?

I dont think it's a good idea to equate gilson to a guy who made up the stupidest governmental idea ever to grace the earth (communism). and it's rude to do so.

However, the internet is NOT real life (despite the many people who consider it so. ;P), which is it's a good base for a mission-statement as broad as this site's. Ego still exists, but because it's cloaked behind computers and pixels and what-not, it's not as dominant, and is much easier to keep down. Karl Marx's ideas of socialism would have worked online. ;P Digital humanity is the more perfected/direct form of real-life humanity. That's why online games are so popular.
