The point isn't what he is trying to do politically; the point is what he is getting away with that he shouldn't be getting away with. I couldn't give a monkey's flying ass about his motives behind this move, all I care about is the effects it will have on us now and in the future.

hes not "getting away" with anything....if you know a little about our government as im sure you do, it takes 2/3 of congress, and 3/4 of all the states to ratify, for a constitutional amendment to be made, and theres no way in hell its going to happen, i believe bush knows there is no way in hell this will happen, so, you ask, why is he doing it...for votes...thats all it is. there are safeguards that smart people like Jefferson wrote into the constitution to prevent presidents from "getting away" with things, and john, that was one of the stupidest things i've ever heard you say...."im becoming a fan too, but i don't know much about it"...i know thats probably just a slip of the finger and you don't actualy mean it, but thats just as bad as someone being a christian if they don't know jack about the bible, which i know you hate...

Bush's stance on illegal immigration has alienated many of his voters. Bush needs to secure the boarder!!!

stupidest thing in the world-giving the president the ability to pardon people!!!!! Why on earth would they give this privlege to ANYONE? ?? The big question is, if president bush loses this election, will he pardon martha stewart and the enron executives because they are big doners for the GOP?

Ok its been awhile since posts have been added on this thread but since I've just joined...
My vote this fall definitely goes to George Bush. No I don't think he's a moron. I think there is more intelligence there than people realize (or don't want to realize in most cases). His strong morality, character, and integrity are all very positive things. I do believe that us going into Afghanistan and Iraq were the right decisions. On most political issues, his platform appeals to me. The things that i don't agree with him about are basically because I would rather he move farther right, and not so far to the center. And lastly, he's a far, far better President than John Kerry could ever be.
